Each April, during National Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Awareness Month, Community Works hosts Start By Believing events that invite our community to listen with compassion and respond with belief. Choosing to believe survivors is often the first—and most powerful—step toward healing and recovery.
Belief Changes Everything.
Community Works hosts Start by Believing events to encourage our community to support survivors of sexual assault. These events focus on changing the way we respond to disclosures, promoting a culture of belief, respect, and safety.
During our events, participants can:
- Learn how to respond supportively when someone discloses sexual assault
- Hear from survivors and advocates about their experiences
- Access resources and guidance for supporting survivors
- Join a community committed to ending victim-blaming and fostering healing
By hosting these events, we help ensure that survivors are met with understanding, compassion, and empowerment from the very first moment someone comes forward.
